Capitalizing on Property.ca's highest traffic pages
More than 1,000,000 users visit Property.ca every month in hopes of finding their dream home. Along with a team of researchers, I led the redesign of Property.ca's highest traffic pages: their search page and listing pages.
Through multiple rounds of iterations and user testing we improved key interactions such as viewing bookings, favourites, and contact agent requests, by an average of 300%.
We also improved the search experience's SUS (system usability score) from 65 (average) to 86 (very good), and reduced time for users to complete key tasks, such as searching and filtering for relevant listings, by over 30%.
Home-buyers and renters want a clean, uncluttered, intuitive way to browse listings
Prior to the redesign, users were confused by the 13+ buttons on the search page which lacked proper categorization, clarity, and did not follow established UX patterns. By grouping items and reducing the number of navigation options, users were able to complete tasks faster with minimal friction.
Listing pages followed a similar trend as the search experience: plenty of great information for users presented in a cluttered and unintuitive layout. Through direct user research we redesigned and re-ordered the page sections according to user priorities, as well as grouped key interactions (book a viewing, contact an agent, favourite, share, view nearby amenities) in a more intuitive location, increasing their usage on average by 300%. By introducing a floating side-nav, previously under-used sections experienced increased traffic.
